About PinYin

PinYin was created in 1958 and was created to help one to read Chinese easily. It uses 26 Latin letters, and it looks almost like English. However, the pronunciations are slightly different.

a, o, e, i, and u are called finals (单韵母,dan yun mu) and like vowels.

b, p, m, f, d, t, n, l, g, k, h, j, q, x, zh, ch, sh, r, z, c, s are called initials.


There are four tones in Chinese PinYin.
